Jenna Spinei is a Seattle based movement artist and educator, researcher, certified Level 3 Franklin Method® educator, and Registered Somatic Movement Educator and Therapist (RSME/T) through the International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association (ISMETA).
The Franklin Method® combines functional anatomy and Dynamic Neuro-Cognitive Imagery to improve motor performance. Research has shown that attaching specific thoughts or visualizations to movements can boost the way the body performs them. These techniques promote health, injury prevention, longevity and general well being. In these workshops you will explore tools that enhance embodiment of our natural design to improve strength, mobility and coordination.
Who can benefit from this work?
Anyone with a body can benefit from Franklin Method®. I specialize in curating classes for dancers, dance teams, dance instructors, and mental health professionals.
Learning about how your body moves doesn't have to be boring or two dimensional. I craft my movement science workshops with a playful, embodied, three dimensional approach.
Who can benefit from this work?
These workshops are ideal for dance, pilates, yoga and movement educators as well as students of these practices.
How can you benefit from somatics?
1. Increase awareness of the sensations of the moving body, including interoception and proprioception
2. Focus on the body both as an objective physical process and as a subjective process of lived consciousness
3. Recognize habitual patterns of perceptual, postural and movement interactions with the environment
4. Discover new possibilities for perceptual, postural and movement interactions with the environment
5. Enhance the awareness of biological, psychological, social, and ecological aspects of the human experience through movement
